Deno installation

Installation

The simplest way to install deno is to download and run the scripts provided by deno_install using shell or powershell( for windows).

  • Linux / Mac
curl -fsSL https://deno.land/x/install/install.sh | sh
  • Windows
iwr https://deno.land/x/install/install.ps1 -useb | iex

Facing problem while installation ?

The installation process will work for most of you. But, few of you will face the following error on your shell console.

.\install.ps1 : File C:\install.ps1 cannot be loaded because running scripts is disabled on this system. For more information, see about_Execution_Policies at https:/go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=135170.

+ ... /x/install/install.ps1 -useb -outf install.ps1; .\install.ps1 v0.38.0
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : SecurityError: (:) [], ParentContainsErrorRecordException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : UnauthorizedAccess

Don’t worry just follow the below steps:

  • Download the .zip file of latest deno release.
  • Extract the .zip file and copy the location of deno.exe.
  • Open My Computer > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables
  • Add the location as new path in system variables.

You have completed the installation process. Now, its time to verify it.

Open Command Prompt or Terminal and run the following command.

deno --version

It will print the following information :

deno 1.0.1             // deno version
v8 8.4.300 // version of javascript engine
typescript 3.9.2 // typescript version

Environment Setup

Deno is very new, and currently not many IDEs / Text editors support it. My suggestion : Go for Visual Studio Code.It is a pretty good IDE and offers an extension with the name Deno for development.

Deno says ‘Hello World!’

Your setup is now ready to create a hello world script in Deno. Copy the below code in a new file.

for (let i = 0; i < 13; i++) {
console.log("Hello World -Deno");
}

Save the file as ‘hello-deno.ts’ , the name is not important it could be anything but use .ts as the file type. Now, open the command prompt / terminal in the file location and run following command to execute the deno script.

deno run hello-deno.ts

Understand Angular’s forRoot and forChild

  forRoot   /   forChild   is a pattern for singleton services that most of us know from routing. Routing is actually the main use case for it and as it is not commonly used outside of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if most Angular developers haven’t given it a second thought. However, as the official Angular documentation puts it: “Understanding how  forRoot()  works to make sure a service is a singleton will inform your development at a deeper level.” So let’s go. Providers & Injectors Angular comes with a dependency injection (DI) mechanism. When a component depends on a service, you don’t manually create an instance of the service. You  inject  the service and the dependency injection system takes care of providing an instance. import { Component, OnInit } from '@angular/core'; import { TestService } from 'src/app/services/test.service'; @Component({ selector: 'app-test', templateUrl: './test.component.html', styleUrls: ['./test.compon...

How to solve Puppeteer TimeoutError: Navigation timeout of 30000 ms exceeded

During the automation of multiple tasks on my job and personal projects, i decided to move on  Puppeteer  instead of the old school PhantomJS. One of the most usual problems with pages that contain a lot of content, because of the ads, images etc. is the load time, an exception is thrown (specifically the TimeoutError) after a page takes more than 30000ms (30 seconds) to load totally. To solve this problem, you will have 2 options, either to increase this timeout in the configuration or remove it at all. Personally, i prefer to remove the limit as i know that the pages that i work with will end up loading someday. In this article, i'll explain you briefly 2 ways to bypass this limitation. A. Globally on the tab The option that i prefer, as i browse multiple pages in the same tab, is to remove the timeout limit on the tab that i use to browse. For example, to remove the limit you should add: await page . setDefaultNavigationTimeout ( 0 ) ;  COPY SNIPPET The setDefaultNav...
